PREREQUISITES

1. You need to have ADB setup on your computer including Fastboot.

2. You also should have your Xoom Bootloader unlocked. If not, head over to our guide on how tounlock Motorola Xoom Bootloader in few simple steps.

3. Download XOOM Root.zip on to your computer and extract it’s content.

ROOTING INSTRUCTIONS

1. Connect your Motorola Xoom to to Verizon or Wi-Fi but don’t setup any Google accounts, skip through this process and go to home screen.

2. Put your Xoom into “USB Debugging Mode”. To do it, go to “Applications”—> “Settings” –> “Applications” –> “Development” –> and check the box “USB debugging”.

3. Now connect your Xoom to computer via USB cable.

4. On your computer, launch “Command Prompt” and enter the following:

adb reboot bootloader

5. Now flash the boot image by keying in the command:

fastboot flash boot rootboot.img

6. Reboot the Xoom by entering the command:

fastboot reboot

7. After the Motorola Xoom reboots and lands up in lock screen, enter the following commands:

adb remount
adb push su /system/bin/
adb shell
ln –s /system/bin/su /system/xbin/su
chmod 4755 /system/bin/su
exit
adb push Superuser.apk /system/app

That’s it. Your Motorola Xoom should be rooted now. To confirm, type:

adb shell

You should get # instead on $ which means that your Motorola Xoom is rooted.
